Checking your Attic for Damage

This is the time of year when the winter snow is often starting to thaw and with the warmer temperatures can come increased rain and general damp weather. Once the snow starts to clear, it is a good idea to check your roof and attic for any signs of damage sustained over winter. Quick attention to small problems might help you prevent them turning into big expensive issues further down the track and could even help alleviate the need to claim on your PA homeowners insurance.
 
As roof damage is common during winter, a good place to start is your attic:

•Check for cracks and potential leaks
•Check for signs of water damage including damp patches and mold
•Check attic vents for any accumulated twigs and debris which might affect air circulation in your attic
•Check your attic fan, if you have one, and make sure blades are free of any obstructions
•Check insulation for signs of damage or moisture
